Case Study - Distance
Learning/ Instructional CD ROM
The Challenge:
The U.S. Department of Transportation (US DOT) needed to improve their ability to train transportation professionals
in federal, state, and private organizations and encourage lifelong learning. They needed to effectively reach a widely
disbursed group and provide a convenient means of educating those transportation professionals.
The Solution:
The approach selected to meet US DOT’s need was to deliver the training as interactive courses the users
can load on their own PC. A. J. Boggs & Company’s mission was to display the feasibility of an interactive
instructional CD-ROM system which publishes, promotes and teaches professionals. The first training topic was
about technologies required to deploy Intelligent Transportation Systems.
Results:
A.J. Boggs completed design and prototype of a training course using interchangeable component architecture
for learning objects. The approach of using interchangeable component architecture improves the ease of
implementing reusable courseware which speeds the development of training courses.
Approval of a patent is pending that will enable use of this technology developed by A. J. Boggs & Company.
